Aliases

Category aliases work just like aliases in the Finder. They act as placeholders that refer to an original, and essentially allow categories to be inserted into more than one place in the outline. Aliases are shown in italics.

You can make an alias of a category by choosing Categories Make Alias (⌘L). If you hold down the option key when creating an alias, Shoebox will ask where to put it. Choose Categories Show Original (⎇⌘R) to show the original of an alias.

When you export categories to plain text or HTML, aliases are shown with an arrow pointing to their originals. In HTML documents, you can click an original to jump to it.

Aliases can be used to make logical connections between categories. The more connections you make, the more Shoebox will understand how the world works. Here are some examples:
