About the iConquer World map |
The default iConquer World map is based on satellite imagery from NASA.
The projection is modified cylindrical. Areas toward the top and bottom of the map have been vertically stretched to be more realistic. The map has also been made wider at the bottom and more narrow at the top for better fit.
The map has further been altered to facilitate game play. For example, the Atlantic ocean has been shrunk significantly. Many smaller islands have been erased as well.
The map has been divided into 42 countries. Wherever possible, the borders reflect meaningful modern boundaries and the names conform to local preference.
